SUITABILITY: Even though Billy is only 16, fighting Kaiju is pretty par for the course for him. He had been taking care of himself and his little sister since age 12 when his mother was killed by Wels (basically zombies in the Xenogears world). He studied to become both a priest (a healer) and an Etone (a gun-wielding Wels-exterminator for the Ethos Church) and has been in that role for a year or two. In addition, he also runs an orphanage for fellow victims of Wels attacks.
And since it’s Xenogears, he also pilots a Gear (mecha), so he is used to fighting both human-sized threats and mech-sized threats. Being in Synflux would actually be a step back on responsibilities for him, because either way, he’s gotta fight Kaiji, but at home, he also needs to keep a dozen kids fed on a single priest’s paycheck.

POWERS & SKILLS:Marksmanship: Billy is a sharpshooter, and fights with guns. He uses handguns, ether guns, and a large shotgun. Deathblows: In addition to just pew pew shooting, Billy will fire shots in combination to do special moves. I’m not sure how often his video game moves would come up in game, but they’re very silly and are listed in the linked wiki. Healing Ether: Billy can channel ether (magic) to heal injuries. He has a single target healing move, an AOE heal, a single target status-effect cure, and a raise-from-KO ability that can be nerfed if needed. Ether Shields: Billy can increase physical defense for a single target, or channel elemental ether to form a shield to block damage from the opposite element for a single target (for example, the Water Shield protects the target from taking fire-elemental damage). The wiki doesn’t include Billy’s magic, but his list of ether moves is listed here Gear Piloting: Billy pilots the Gear Renmazuo, which like Billy fights using various guns and can cast healing magic on other Gears. He is an expert pilot and later in the game is also able to pilot the more powerful Omnigear version, El-Renmazuo, which is piloted through mental force of will rather than physical controls. (Also, the mech has a silly cape. That is very important to know.) .
NERFED POWERS: Potentially his “Goddess Wake” ability. The description says it raises one character from dead, but it’s functionally getting them up from KO. It is never used for actual death. I figured it could function as a healing spell for someone who has gotten knocked out or severely weakened from damage taken.
